How To Prepare Concrete Substrate For Porcelain Tile Installation

You will need a solid base to install any ceramic or porcelain tile. This is what gives your tiles strength to hold and protect the tile from damages. This article explains ways to prepare concrete substrate – an essential step before tile installation. Check out the following pointers – Remove dust and debris from the area where you have to create cementitious subfloor. Use vacuum, broom, and mop to complete this exercise. Look out for gaps and cracks on the surface. Remove dust and debris from these spaces as well. Spray some water over the cracks. Mix thinset mortar with water in a plastic mug. And pour the mixture into these spaces. Make sure that the mixture reaches between the joints. Allow the mortar to dry. Check the level of the surface. Ascertain that it is level and has slop(s) only as per your design feature. Apply a latex-based primer with the help of a paint brush or roller. Allow the paint primer to dry.
