8 Tips for Planning a Tile Layout for Your Project

If you are up for a tile project in coming week, but haven’t been able to finalize a convincing tile layout, this blog will ease your job at planning and during installation. Check out the following pointers –

  1. Note down the size of tiles you are going to use. This way, you will be able to figure the number of tiles you will need to tile your space.
  2. Mark the center of the walls and locate the center of the area to be tiled. This is where you will place your first tile.
  3. Dry fit the tiles as per your tile placement idea. Start with placing 4 tiles around the center point of the room. (+)
  4. Complete the no-mortar installation of tiles. It will help you identify the tiles you will need to cut and fit towards the corners of the room. This will also help you achieve symmetrical tile placement.
  5. Use tile spacers to ensure equal gap between tiles throughout the layout.
  6. Move toward the farthest wall placing rows of tiles one by one. Come back to the center and move toward the exit of the room, completing the placement.
  7. Cut the tiles and dry fit them too.
  8. Once you have dry installed the tiles and it appeals to you, take a picture of it on your phone, and use this as your guide while you finish the tile project.
